Austin, TX -- Knights Errant, their ladies and all fans of Cervantes and Don Quixote will find a cornucopia of Spanish delights at the first annual QuixoteFest, to be held here October 11 and October 12. The festival, like those of early 17th Century Spain, will feature a wealth of authentic Spanish foods, products, arts and crafts as well as live entertainment – all in a celebration of the spirit of Miguel de Cervantes’ most famous character, Don Quixote de la Mancha. “Spain is rich in great wines, cheeses, and tantalizing cuisine,” says Dean Rotbart, a QuixoteFest ’08 organizer.“Those who attend this wonderful entertainment and cultural fair will step out of the Texas Hill Country and into a village in Quixote’s own Spain.” Visitors from throughout the United States are expected to participate. QuixoteFest will be hosted on the campus of the Wizard Academy, a non-profit educational institution that fosters the kind of iconoclastic thinking and individualistic spirit embodied by Don Quixote.Indeed, the 23-acre campus is a kind of 21st Century La Mancha, with Chapel Dulcinea – a free outdoor wedding chapel – serving as its crown jewel. In addition to performers, entertainers, reenactments and other adventures that appeal to Quixote fans of all ages, QuixoteFest ’08 will feature lectures and workshops on the power of positive thinking in business, life and the arts. On both days of the event, a village marketplace will offer visitors a “taste of Spain,” including gourmet dishes prepared by top Spanish-American chefs. Companies that manufacture of distribute Spanish food, drink or other related items may showcase their products at QuixoteFest. To learn more about the event or to exhibit, contact Rotbart by email don_rotbart@quixotefest.com or fax him at 720-528-7821. “Liberty, Sancho, my friend, is one of the most precious gifts that Heaven has bestowed upon mankind.”
